Jennifer Schatzle
Brownfields & VRP Technical Liaison @LDEQ
Jennifer Schatzle brings a wealth of knowledge & experience to DEQ’s Remediation Division. After graduating with a Toxicology degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Jennifer worked as an environmental consultant for over 15 years, conducting & overseeing a variety of Brownfield & Voluntary Remediation Program (VRP) projects including the Lincoln Theater in Baton Rouge, Westwego City Hall, & Wallace Community Center in Raceland. After joining LDEQ in 2018 as an Environmental Senior Scientist, Jennifer transitioned into the role as the Brownfields & VRP Technical Liaison in 2019, providing technical assistance & oversight to State & local Brownfield Projects & assisting sites through the VRP process. Her background in navigating EPA funding requirements as well as her extensive knowledge of LDEQ’s Risk Evaluation/ Corrective Action Program & VRP makes her a critical resource for addressing environmental issues at vacant & abandoned properties to facilitate their reuse.
